Selfies. Some call the burgeoning trend of online photo self portraits a major symptom of a self-centered, self-important, narcissistic, vain, "me" generation.
Others argue it's harmless fun, or even a way for an individual to "brand" themselves, as in maintain total control on how they are represented online.
Call it what you want, some are clearly more into it than others. So who posts the most? Mashable actually combed through Instagram to find out.
The results may surprise you. Well, at least some of them might.
The fact that four of the top 10 are related is obvious. Just try to guess which family we're talking about. Yet two of the top three overall are a bit surprising.
This is just Instagram, mind you. Miley Cyrus, who has long reigned as queen of Twitter selfies, doesn't even crack the top 10 on this social platform.
The top 10 most selfie-loving celebs on Instagram are ...
- Kylie Jenner (451)
- Snoop Dogg (271)
- Ariana Grande (243)
- Kendall Jenner (236)
- Kim Kardashian (216)
- Austin Mahone (196)
- Justin Bieber (191)
- Rihanna (190)
- Khloe Kardashian (182)
- Kat Von D (174)
Yes, Kylie Jenner wins BY FAR over unexpected runner-up Snoop Dogg, her sister Kendall Jenner, her half-sisters Khloe and Kim Kardashian, and Rihanna.
Did not see that one coming. Did you?
Amusingly, the celebrity with the lowest rate of selfies on Twitter in September was the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama.
Among his 1,463 tweets, none are selfies. Former talk show host Oprah Winfrey had the lowest rate of selfies of any star across both social platforms.
How many selfies to you post?
