Angela Martin, a Connecticut woman charged with production, distribution and possession of child porn last month, was already a registered sex offender.
Convicted in 2006 of sexually assaulting a minor, she was charged by federal authorities this time for sexually abusing a 3-year-old girl, which she recorded.
The video of the incident on her cell phone was allegedly sent to someone in California. Federal authorities say she also received and distributed other material.
In connection with the 2006 conviction of second-degree sexual assault of a minor she served 30 months in state prison and had to register as a sex offender.
The case, eerily similar to that of Heather Koon, was investigated through a joint operation conducted by the Wallingford, Conn., P.D., the FBI and other officials.
Astonishingly, she allegedly committed this heinous crime during a babysitting gig, raising the obvious question of how she was possibly hired in that capacity.
It couldn't have been through an agency, which would have done a thorough background check, but most babysitters are arranged rather informally.
One could have looked up Angela Martin's name and found her previous conviction, but she was reportedly using her married name, Angela Haussmann.
In any case, if she's convicted, she faces 25 years in prison.
Even that might be considered too lenient.
