Warning: The following story will move you to tears, both of the sad and the happy variety.
Last Friday, a Nashville native came into contact with a pit bull who wandered on to her porch.
Seeing clear signs of abuse, the woman made a posting on Craigslist that addressed the animal's owner and stated simply: "Your pit bull found me. And I'm not giving her back."
The new owner dubbed her new canine Mama Jade and rebuked Jade's previous master in her Craigslist message:
"With each bite of her they took and each yelp she cried, they'd look at you for reassurance. Because all they wanted to do was please you... Loyalty is in their blood. Violence is not."
The user then said that Jade hasn't lost her spirit or personality ("She'll give you slobbery kisses and nuzzle your face with love"), but that she initially feared she would need to put Jade down.
HOWEVER, the Craigslist post went viral, a Facebook page with over 15,000 Likes has since been created and the owner has been overwhelmed by the support total strangers have shown, emotionally and financially.
"The response ... has restored a lot of my faith in humanity," she writes "Many people and charities have asked if they could donate funds for Mama to get treatment...
"Thanks the overwhelming response I received from posting Mama Jade's story on Craigslist, this girl is getting yet another chance to live a beautiful life. From the bottom of my heart, I can't thank everyone enough for the kind words & incredible support."
