Casey Kasem Family Feud: Kids Protest Outside Gate, Say Stepmom Won't Let Them In

Casey Kasem's family is in the midst of an ugly feud involving the radio legend's Parkinson's disease and a stepmother who won't let his see him, allegedly.

Kasem, 81, is suffering from advanced Parkinson's disease, and his three eldest children staged a protest outside his gated estate in Los Angeles.

The children claim that Casey's current wife, Jean Kasem, won't allow them to visit him, and has totally isolated him from his kids for months now.

"My dad is very sick, and we have been completely shut off from him for the last three months," Kerri Kasem, 41, told the New York Daily News.

"There is no money issue here, we just want to see our dad. We love him, and everyone knows his kids and grandkids are a source of joy for him."

The distraught daughter said she and siblings Mike and Julie, all from Casey's first marriage, worry that isolation might be compounding their dad's illness.

She said they have personal trust funds and good jobs and aren't seeking any changes to their dad's will, which doesn't name them as beneficiaries.

"Look, people fight and they don't like each other, and that's fine. But it's cruel to keep us from seeing our dad," she said. "We don't want any money from Jean."

"We don't care about that. We were raised well, and we support ourselves."

She said she was disheartened when Jean called the cops to keep protesters - which include some of Kasem's elderly friends and co-workers - away.

"They said it was a 'high alert' call. I guess my dad's 70-year-old friends are a threat," Casey's daughter said. "Most of them were just sitting there."

It's unclear why Jean Kasem has spurned the kids of the Top 40 radio great, or what her relationship with them has been up until this bizarre incident.
