Paul McCartney Defends Miley Cyrus, Can Twerk with the Best of Them!

Paul McCartney Defends Miley Cyrus, Can Twerk with the Best of Them!

Wake Paul McCartney up when the uproar over Miley Cyrus is finished.

In London this week to perform a gig sponsored by BBC Radio, the legendary singer was asked about the 20-year old Twerking sensation and essentially replied with a yawn.

He doesn't see what the big deal is.

"I don't understand why everyone's saying, 'Ooh she shouldn't do that!' It is nothing we haven't seen before," McCartney said of Miley. "I mean, she's a young girl and these days, in that kind of field that she's in, there's a lot of noise."

And Cyrus has clearly risen far above the noise with her controversial antics.

Her new album, "Bangerz" is number-one on the Billboard chart and on iTunes.

"You've got to do something to get above the chatter and that's what you'll see a lot of the guys, a lot of the girls, doing," the veteran artist added. "I don't think it was bad at all. She looked good."

In a sort of similar vein, feminist Gloria Steinem has also stood up for Miley.

She told critics to hate the game, not the player, and blamed society for essentially forcing a young singer to sexualize herself if she wants to garner attention.

In past interviews, McCartney referred to Miley's recent run of performances as "only mildly shocking" and said he was totally down with his 10-year old daughter watching her Twerk.

In fact, "I can twerk with the best of them," the former Beatles vocalist said.

Now THAT is something we'd pay to see.
