Yes, this was once a prank Jim pulled on Dwight in an episode of The Office.
But it's also a very real story.
Kuwait's Director of Public Health has announced that the nation is developing homosexuality-detecting technology that it plans to install inside international airports in order to prevent gay travelers from entering the country.
The proposal will be floated before a Gulf Cooperation Council committee at a meeting on November 11.
Explained the director, Yousuf Mindkar:
"Health centers conduct the routine medical check to assess the health of the expatriates when they come into the GCC countries. However, we will take stricter measures that will help us detect gays who will be then barred from entering Kuwait or any of the GCC member states."
Homosexual acts are illegal in Kuwait, with 10-year prison sentences among the penalties on the intolerant books in this country.
It's unclear just how these gay detectors will actually detect gayness, but it should be entertaining (and infuriating) to find out.
Along similar lines, Russia continues to come under fire for its anti-homosexual legislation. Many plan to boycott the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics and many fear political protests and/or arrests will distract from the Games.
