It's weird that in a fast-paced scene set inside a moving armored vehicle, the dialogue sounds like it was recorded inside a Museum of Natural History.
But that's the way action dialogue always sounds: so resonant and forward. How else would lines like "Jackpot!" and "Yeah! That's what I'm talkin' about" land with any emotional significance.
I kid the action movies. But really, who talks like this? See what I mean in the first clip from White House Down:
Tatum stars a John Cale, a man who finds himself in a position to save the President (Foxx) after a paramilitary group attacks the White House.
Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke, Richard Jenkins, James Woods, and Joey King round out the cast.
Roland Emmerich directs the film, with a script by James Vanderbilt.
White House Down will hit theaters June 28.
